Hi! My name is Ms. Lauren Haynes and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I have worked very hard to become a teacher and I have a lot of exciting ideas for our classroom this year. I graduated in December 2007 from Central Michigan University where I studied elementary education for five years. My degree allows me to teach all subject areas, grades pre-kindergarten through eigth grade, and I specialize in classroom reading, integrated science, and early childhood development.
I believe that what our classroom is, is most important for what we learn. Meaning, it is my belief that my students can best exceed my social and learning expectations if they feel comfortable and accepted in their classroom environment. It is my job to foster a classroom community where all students feel loved, valued, and confident about who they are. I set a behavior expectation for ALL students so that our classroom may be one that is full of respect, friendships, and understandings. We are sure to have many kinds of personalities in our classroom and it is imporant to me to teach our students how to respect one another and form friendships based on our simularties and our differences, too. It can be so exciting to be friends with someone that is different than us because we can learn so many new things (i.e. cultural differences, relationship skills, and problem-solving strategies). In our classroom all of our rules will be based on friendship and respect and children will be expected to treat each other with kindness. When this is what our classroom IS, only then will our learning be most beneficial. Welcome to every student's Safe Zone! Where relationships and learning is always safe.
Please see the "Classroom Rules" link on the home page to view a copy of our rules as they are posted in our classroom.
I look forward to a school year full of excitement and new experiences....for both my students and myself.
It's a pleasure to meet you and I encourage you to contact me any time with any questions, comments, or concerns about your child or our classroom. Please, always feel welcomed in our classroom and know that your ideas and thoughts are always encouraged. After all, "we're in this together"--For the benefits of our kids!
It's a pleasure to be on your team.
